Darn it all I would have thought that Labour might have stolen NZF thunder.
Once again the Labour/Green movement seems to have missed the poor treatment
of the racing dogs.
These are strange and interesting times we live in.
The question of racing greyhound safety has been debated for decades. I know it
was in the 1980s.
Successive governments have failed to adequately address it until now.
There is also a movement, perhaps less vocal, concerned about horse racing and
rodeos. Personally I think rodeos are horribly cruel, horseracing not as
obviously so although when I was last on a racecourse (a rarity for me) a horse
broke a leg and was euthanised.
But I certainly support any decision to reduce avoidable suffering to animals
and (most) human beings.
