And we don't get to know if they are because our useless government rushed the legislation through to avoid scrutiny. Most open and transparent, eh?
The time for you to worry will be when New Zealanders start being "disappeared", along with shadowy whispers of salt mines and gulags.
Until then, rest easy in the certain knowledge that the current government is about as distant from totalitarianism as your thinking is from Martin Luther King's.
I saw a discussion on Facebook, so it must be true . . ..
Apparently our loyal opposition was pointing out that our existing
legislation was not sufficient to make restrictions imposed by
government legal, which meant that they didn't all need to be complied
with. The government has implied that changes to the law were required
for the coming period where doubts had been cast on whether the risk
remains sufficiently high to justify provisions under current law, so
laws were drafted and put through, but now much the same people are
saying that the new laws are draconian and an encroachment on civil
liberties, bt at the same time are saying that there is nothing in the
new laws that was not there already in the Health Act. I think all it
shows is that I need to stop reading facebook and start listening to
Mike Hoskings . . .
