It is a space filler - words to count towards a target, with little
value to anyone. A single joke repeated using slightly different words
but the reader no better informed or amused. Are you James Elliott,
Tony?

No I am not, but he has more wisdom in one article than your entire miserable
existence.
It is not a space filler, it is real and actual satirical humour, provided by a
person far more intelligent than you.
Look up the definition of satire and you will have a whole new world to explore.
But I forget, you don't do true learning do you? You prefer rote, a much more
comfortable existence.
Meanwhile do please avoid involving yourself in futile discussions with people
who actually care.

The Fourth estate would likely refer to it as "providing colour and balance" within the wider journalistic gamut.

To me, Elliott is a carthorse, decidedly more sardonic than satirical. Whereas Braunias "floats like a butterfly, stings like a bee" (Mohamed Ali) in his satirical deftness and brevity which he has off to a T.

To recall the flavour, a Braunias article from way back. For satire, plodding Elliott couldn't even begin to come close:

Elliott is contemporary, Braunias is smart but probably no longer on song.
You? Neither, and never have been.

It is nearly three years ago, Gorge. Perhaps you have lost your sense
of humour since then . . .

With a negotiating team of Bennett, Joyce and Brownlee, how could
English have ever won over Winston Peters? The photo is enough for a
few laughs all by itself!

Winston going with Labour had nothing to do with Bennett, Joyce and Brownlee and everything to do with his bank account and having a PM he could easily manipulate.

Peters has been playing politics for so long now most commentators
shrug and put it in the fake news basket.

Certainly any implication that the government enriched his bank
account other than by making him Deputy PM is a lie; it does appear
that this is likely to be his last week as an MP. Arguably two of the
NZ First Ministers did a reasonable job; I suspect NZ First will not
survive Winstons retirement.

A good try, JOhn, but that is just your fantasy - rumour at the time
was that National offered more money, and clearly Bridges would have
been easier to manipulate, but what he would not have got from
National was honesty and integrity. With either Labour or National he
would have had the ability to stop legislation.

What a load of utter bollocks! winston is still demanding utu for being tossed from the National party all those years ago. even though Winston was the author of his own demise! Only fucking imbeciles like you believe the crap you posted! Hell Bridges wasn't the National party leader in 2017! It was Bill English who Winston hates with a passion! :)

So? More vitriol from the plodding James.
